ACTIVITIES

Industrial Engineering in Oil and Gas Exploitation is a study program of Bachelor Academic Studies accredited in 2014 for the first time. It was created as a response to practical needs, initiated by the company NIS a.d. which indicated the need for highly qualified staff in the field of Oil and Gas Exploitation in the territory of Central Banat. Department of Industrial Engineering in Oil and Gas Exploitation is being developed together with the study program, as one of the newest Departments at the Faculty, founded in 2016. Bachelor Academic Studies are being implemented currently, and a Bachelor with Honors in Industrial Engineering in Oil and Gas Exploitation who possesses competence in European and world frameworks is being educated.

Activities regarding accreditation of Master’s Studies are in progress. The Department has two modern laboratories for physics and chemistry at its disposal. The
equipment of the laboratory was financially supported by the company NIS within the Energy of Knowledge program. Teaching staff at this study program continuously create conditions for the development of Engineering in Oil and Gas Exploitation via direct contact with the economy. Professional visits of students to facilities for exploitation and collection of oil and gas are organized, as well as familiarization with technological processes, parts of equipment, analytics and procedures and other facilities of the mentioned company in order to gain practical experience.

The Department cooperates with other scientific and research institutions – Uhta University and Gubkin University, Moscow, Russia, which are one of the most prestigious world universities in the field of oil and gas, the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum, University of Zagreb, Faculty of Mining in Prijedor, University of Banja Luka, Faculty of Mining, Geology and Civil Engineering, University of Tuzla, as well as with economic organizations in the country – company NIS a.d. Strategic partnership with these institutions not only formally carried out, but also through various programs and projects, is a basic prerequisite for the strengthening of our institution’s scientific capacities.

Our students participate in all curricular and extracurricular activities through their membership in the SEG (Society of Exploration Geophysicists)/SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) sections within which lectures given by experts from practice are organized on various professional topics. Our students have also won awards for scientific and professional papers at the University and scholarships given by company NIS within the fund for gifted students. Goals of the Department include the improvement of research, an increase of the impact that results have on education and social development, and continuous development in accordance with the needs of industry and society in the field of Oil and Gas Exploitation.
