The study program of basic academic studies Industrial Engineering in Oil and Gas Exploitation is a study program accredited for the first time in 2014. It was created as a response to the needs indicated in practice, initiated by the company NIS a.d. which indicated the need for highly qualified personnel in the field of oil and gas exploitation in the territory of central Banat. Together with the study program, the Department of Industrial Engineering in Oil and Gas Exploitation is also being developed, as one of the youngest departments at the faculty, founded in 2016.
Basic academic studies are currently being implemented, and a Graduate Engineer in Industrial Engineering in Oil and Gas Exploitation is being educated, who possesses competence in European and global frameworks. Activities for the accreditation of master's studies are underway. The department has two modernly equipped laboratories for physics and chemistry. The equipment of the laboratories was financially supported by the NIS company within the framework of the Energy of Knowledge program.
Teachers in this study program continuously create conditions for the development of Engineering in the exploitation of oil and gas, through direct contact with the industry. Professional visits of students to facilities for the exploitation and gathering of oil and gas are organized, and they are introduced to technological processes, parts of equipment, analytics and procedures and other facilities of the aforementioned company in order to gain practical experience.
The Department collaborates with other scientific and research institutions – with the University of Ukhta and Gubkin University, Moscow, Russia, which are some of the most prestigious world universities in the field of oil and gas, the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum, University of Zagreb, the Faculty of Mining in Prijedor, University of Banja Luka, the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Civil Engineering, University of Tuzla, as well as with business organizations in the country – the company NIS a.d. Strategic partnership with these institutions, not only formally, but also through various programs and projects, is a basic prerequisite for strengthening the scientific capacities of our institution.
Our students participate in all curricular and extracurricular activities, through membership in SEG (Society of Exploration Geophysicits)/SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) sections, lectures by experts from practice are organized on various topics in the profession. Our students are also winners of awards for scientific and professional works of the University, winners of scholarships awarded by the NIS company within the framework of the fund for gifted students.
The goals of the Department include the improvement of research, increasing the impact of results on education and social development, and continuous development in accordance with the needs of industry and society in the field of oil and gas exploitation.
