
The department implements study programs at all three levels of academic studies: undergraduate, master's and doctoral studies. The undergraduate study programs are: Information Technologies (with three modules: Engineering, Information Technologies and Technology in Education, and Information Technology Management), and the study program Information Technologies - Software Engineering. The master's study programs are: Information Technologies (with the modules Engineering and Software Engineering) and the program Informatics, Technology and Technology in Education. From the 2023/24 academic year, the doctoral study program Information Technologies will also be implemented.
The department implements teaching in 8 computer laboratories that are also used for scientific and research work. All computer laboratories are connected to the faculty network and have an internet connection. The faculty has an optical gigabit link to the ARMUNS academic network hub, Novi Sad. Some laboratories are specialized, such as the Computer Laboratory for Software Engineering, the Computer Laboratory for Computer Networks and Communication Systems, the Computer Laboratory for Graphic Modeling, and others. The Department also has a system for complex calculations and streaming of educational video content.
In addition to educational activities, the Department participates in the implementation of projects of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, projects of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, cross-border cooperation projects, and other European and local projects. In this way, it enables scientific and professional development of its staff, as well as the procurement of equipment and software necessary for the further development of this Department and the Faculty itself.
The Department is also the organizer of two international conferences. The first is the International conference on applied Internet and Information technologies - AIIT, the second is the International conference on Information technology and education development - ITRO. The Department participates in the organization of various events in cooperation with republican, provincial and city structures, foreign and domestic universities and faculties and regional business entities, as well as student competitions. One of the goals of such engagement is to provide students with opportunities to express and develop their knowledge and skills and find employment more easily.
The Department of Information Technologies follows the main trends in its fields of expertise and works to provide good learning conditions for its students, in order to make them competitive in the domestic and international labor market and with potential employers. There is close cooperation with related faculties in the region and beyond with the aim of improving all aspects of the Department's activities: educational, professional and scientific, as well as to enable the development of young scientists. As a result of professional, scientific and experimental research, a large number of scientific and professional papers by members of the Department have been presented and published at domestic and foreign scientific and professional conferences and in journals.
Cooperation with ICT structures in the municipality of Zrenjanin has been supported. The Department cooperates with the Zrenjanin ICT cluster and with IT companies: Vega IT Novi Sad, Levi 9 Zrenjanin, Startit Centаr Zrenjanin, CRATER Belgrade, YU TEAM SOFWARE Zrenjanin and many others.
The Department collaborates with the University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies, Bitola, Macedonia, with the Technical University of Irkutsk, with the State Transport University of Irkutsk, Matrosov Institute for System Dynamics and Control Theory of Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Irkutsk, Russia, Faculty of Transport and Communications Doboj, University of East Sarajevo, Doboj, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as with the South-West University “Neofit Rilski” from Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. An Erasmus exchange of students and teachers with the University “Neofit Rilski” from Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria has been successfully implemented.
