The Department of Environmental Engineering is one of the younger departments at the Technical Faculty "Mihajlo Pupin" Zrenjanin. It currently implements basic academic studies in Environmental Engineering. The Department was formed in order to serve educational activities related to the implementation of the first joint study program at the University of Novi Sad, which the Technical Faculty "Mihajlo Pupin" Zrenjanin is implementing together with the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad.
The study program of basic academic studies in Environmental Engineering is designed as an engineering, multidisciplinary study program, consisting of educational and research fields of the engineering profession. In the implementation of the program, study fields, or courses in the fields of environmental protection, energy, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, management and civil engineering, as well as in the basic scientific disciplines of mathematics, chemistry, physics, mechanics and thermodynamics, are studied, with a special emphasis on their application in solving problems related to environmental protection.
International, national and provincial projects have enabled the department to equip itself with measuring technology and other equipment to achieve the highest scientific and research results. In order to achieve the planned research, scientific and educational results, as well as to exchange them at the international level, the department has formed the Laboratory for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency. The equipment and knowledge of the Department members acquired through international projects make this Laboratory competent for monitoring air quality emission values and simulating air pollution accident scenarios. Since 2018, the Department, in cooperation with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, has been organizing the international conference "Industrial Engineering and Environmental Protection - IIES". One of the main tasks of the Department is to involve students in research and scientific work, and to create conditions for international mobility of students and teachers.
