The Department of Basic and Applied Sciences includes the following scientific fields: mathematics, physics, technical and technological sciences, foreign languages, pedagogical and didactic sciences, legal and sociological sciences, and textile and clothing sciences. Teaching at the basic and master's studies in the above fields takes place according to valid study programs within which students acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge. The Department is responsible for the study program Clothing Engineering at two levels of study, basic academic studies and master's academic studies.
The research work of the members of the Department takes place within the framework of scientific and professional projects, cooperation with domestic and international institutions, through the publication of papers in international and domestic journals and participation in scientific meetings in the country and abroad. The Department is responsible for the organization of two international conferences "Textile Science and Economy" and "Physical Aspects of Environment".
The Department strives to connect students with the economy in the most efficient way, with which it closely cooperates, thus enabling students to acquire skills through the application of knowledge acquired in the study program Clothing Engineering. On this occasion, students are given the opportunity to perform professional practice and employment during their studies and after graduation.
